SALE 17 Nov 2014: Exterior view of the National Archaeological Museum, Damascus, Syria.

NUMBER OF SALES TO DATE: 1
SOLD VIA: Alamy
LICENCE: Rights Managed

This was a strange feeling. I am normally very happy when I sell a stock image. Especially when it goes for a good price as this one did. However this sale is definately tinged with sadness. I visited Syria and the museum in 2008, just 18 months before "the arab uprisings". I know there has been much devistation in Syria and as I look at this image I wonder how many of the wonderful places I visited have survived and I wonder how many years it will be before it is safe for photographers from the UK to return.
